Heat recovery unit – а solution for energy efficiency, fresh healthy air and environment protection

High-tech heat recovery units systems are a mandatory aspect of modern HVAC installations and these days they are being applied to both residential and commercial, as well as industrial buildings.

The heat recovery unit gives to its users multiple important advantages

They greatly improve energy efficiency, contribute to a constant flow of fresh air in all rooms of the building and equally as important - they reduce the need to use environmentally harmful fuels such as wood, coal and others.

How does it work?

Recuperation is a ventilation process in which exhaust air is used to change the temperature of а new fresh air in a room. There are two advantages during this process: a constant flow of fresh air and simultaneously a higher energy efficiency..

The costs for heating in winter or cooling in summer of fresh air supplied to the rooms, are very high. For example, in order to heat 1000 m3 of air during winter with an ambient temperature of -16 C to a temperature supply in the room of +20 C, around 13 KW of electricity are required. Heat recovery unit help to reduce this cost at a minimum of 40% and at a maximum of 80%!

All modern business, administrative, industrial and even residential buildings benefit from a heat recovery ventilation system that supplies all rooms with new air at all times without having to warm up this air completely for the first time during winter or cool it completely during the summer.

On cold days in the heat recovery system, the heated air from the rooms, which is being taken outside, serves to heat the incoming cold air - thanks to the heat recovery unit and the well-build ventilation system. During the summer, the air cooled by the air conditioning system helps to cool down the incoming warm air in the same way.

The two air streams, leaving and entering the premises of the building, pass through a heat exchanger and a filtering system - this, basically, is the heat recovery unit.

Inside the heat recovery unit there is a complex system, which includes a pair of parallel plates which separate the warm air from the cold air and point it in two different directions. The two air streams with the exhaust stagnant air and fresh air are not mixed because of the plate heat exchanger - this ensures clean and healthy air in all rooms throughout the day.

When do you need a heat recovery unit?

Heat recovery unit are widely used in the ventilation systems. They can be installed in constructed ventilations of various buildings:

  •         Warehouses and logistical bases;
  •            Production and industrial buildings;
  •            Business buildings and administrative buildings;
  •        Schools and school buildings;
  •            Industrial and commercial premises;
  •            Restaurants, establishments, hotels;
  •            Residential buildings;
  •            Houses, etc.

Application in residential buildings

Some builders and investors include heat recovery unit in HVAC installations of residential buildings and complexes, since this is a strong competitive advantage for potential buyers of homes. According to the analyzes done, the data clearly shows that heat recovery ventilation systems in residential and other household buildings increase the efficiency by up to 80%.
